Write a letter to Governor Jerry Brown
Your letter is most effective when you use your own words and send it in the mail. Adding a letterhead catches more attention. Please reference Parole of David Weidert CDC C-39455
Please do not attack the Governor. Positive pressure is much more effective.
There is no need to repeat all the details of the crime, the Governor has the entire file, stick to the critical issues:
Weidert’s parole plans are unrealistic. He is asking to be paroled to San Francisco, but his family lives in Chowchilla and Tuolumne County. Where is he going to get support when he feels his “stressors” and “triggers?” This is too risky.
And the #1 reason to overturn the parole decision: the Parole Commissioner in his granting of parole at the latest hearing stated he was not 100% confident in the “insight” Weidert is claiming. His description of the crime and reasons don’t make sense to the parole board. After reviewing thousands of cases the Parole Commissioner said this case really “impacted him.” Mike’s disabilities, the things he did to him, the suffering he caused was so horrible it “goes beyond any conscience,” but he had to let him out because the law says that the crime means less over time.
I understand you have to parole some people. But it doesn’t matter how many years he has been in prison, Weidert is NOT the guy you let out. Ever.
